If you would like to direct a domain address that you have to a different domain or subdomain, one way to do that would be to use a CNAME record. By setting up such a record, the domain name being forwarded loses all its records (A, MX, and so forth) and instead, it takes the A record of the domain it is forwarded to. In this way, if you are using a web design service by some provider that gives you a subdomain, you can use an actual domain name and not only will it be redirected to the website that you have created, but it will also appear in the browser address bar at all times. Other possible uses of a CNAME record are to forward all the targeted traffic from different subdomains to their main Internet domain, or to use the webmail service of your webhosting company by using webmail.your-doman.com, for instance. The latter will work only by setting up a CNAME record for a subdomain because this type of a record set up for the main domain address makes it impossible to use e-mail addresses.

CNAME Records in Cloud Website Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which we provide with each and every Linux cloud website hosting package, will permit you to set up CNAME records for any domain name or subdomain hosted in the account with several clicks. If you aren't confident how to go about it, you should check the video tutorial available in the CP, read the in depth Help article on the subject, or simply contact us and we can assist you 24/7, though it is not likely that you'll experience any difficulties as all it takes to set up a new CNAME record is to select a domain/subdomain, enter the hostname you're pointing to, and save the change. The new record is going to be fully active within the hour. Using CNAME records permits you to have better control over your domain addresses and website content and our system is simple and intuitive enough to allow people with no previous experience to set up this kind of records easily.

CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with each of our semi-dedicated server accounts, will enable you to create a CNAME record without difficulty. In case you want to create a private URL for your emails, to forward a domain address to a subdomain within the account or to forward a domain to another provider and use some third-party service which they provide, it won't require more than 3 mouse clicks to create this kind of record. All DNS records for the domain addresses and subdomains hosted inside the semi-dedicated account will be listed in a separate section in the Control Panel, so when you're there, all that you will have to do will be to choose the type of the record that you want to set up and the hostname for which you are creating it, and then enter the actual record text. For your convenience, you can see a short video within the CP on how to create a CNAME record or you can follow the instructions in the help article, which is available in the DNS records section.
